Adventure attractions in London

"Zip World London" in London, England, is an exciting attraction that thrills adrenaline junkies and adventure seekers alike. This attraction, which opens its doors in early 2025, is the newest addition to the renowned Zip World family, already known for its spectacular adventure locations in Wales and Northern England. In London, Zip World takes over the famous ArcelorMittal Orbit, an iconic sculpture in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and transforms it into a center for thrills and panoramic views. The location combines a mix of stunning views, historical significance, and modern leisure activities, making it a unique experience in the British capital.

Largest slide in the world

The centerpiece of Zip World London is the "Helix" slide, considered the world's largest tunnel slide. Standing at 76 meters tall and an impressive 178 meters long, it offers a thrilling ride through twelve turns, passing through both glass and dark sections. This high-speed slide utilizes the structure of the ArcelorMittal Orbit, a 115-meter-tall sculpture originally designed by artist Anish Kapoor and engineer Cecil Balmond for the 2012 Olympic Games. The red, twisted steel beams, made from recycled materials like old cars and washing machines, already make the Orbit a striking landmark from the outside. Zip World now takes this experience to a new level by establishing the slide as a central attraction, offering one of the most spectacular ways to experience London from an unusual perspective.

Popular sightseeing spots in London

In addition to the Helix slide, Zip World London also provides access to the viewing platforms of the ArcelorMittal Orbit, offering breathtaking views over the city. From here, visitors can gaze out over London's skyline, including iconic landmarks such as the London Stadium, Canary Wharf, Big Ben, and St Paul’s Cathedral. Two huge concave mirrors on the platforms enhance the experience by distorting and reflecting the surroundings, directing light into the structure's interior – an effect reminiscent of a telescope, immersing visitors in a surreal world. For those seeking less thrill, these platforms offer a relaxed alternative to enjoy the metropolis from above, while the surroundings of the Olympic Park with its modern buildings and green spaces add an additional visual layer.

Panoramic views of London

The atmosphere at Zip World London is filled with energy and excitement. The check-in process takes place at the landing tower, where visitors are equipped and briefed before either hurtling down the slide or exploring the platforms. The park itself offers ample space for spectators, allowing companions who do not participate to enjoy the spectacle. Zip World plans to expand the site long-term with two additional adventure attractions, making the experience even more diverse. It is already evident that the combination of art, architecture, and adrenaline sets Zip World London apart from other leisure offerings in the city.

Recreational activities in Olympic Park

For families, couples, or groups of friends, Zip World London is a versatile destination. While the slide appeals primarily to older children and adults seeking thrills, the viewing platforms provide a more relaxed option for all ages. The location is also a paradise for photographers looking to capture both the futuristic structure of the Orbit and the sweeping views over London. There are no on-site dining options directly available, but the proximity to the facilities of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, such as cafes and restaurants, makes it easy to combine the visit with a break.

Paid £19 for the viewing platform and slide. Had to queue almost an hour for the slide, which lasts about a minute and isn't too scary or fast - I would say it's doable for most people. It did make me feel shaken up for a about a minute afterwards. I then went back up for the viewing platform durung sunset, which has pretty good 360° views over London. Then, I descended using the steps all the way down which was probably the most fun part! Overall, it was worthwhile but the high price and long queues were annoying.

The experience was nothing short of incredible, filled with moments that will linger in my memory. However, the customer service left much to be desired. The staff appeared disinterested and almost lethargic, making us feel as though we were an unwelcome intrusion rather than valued guests. Upon our arrival, there was a palpable lack of warmth; no one offered guidance or directions, leaving us to navigate the place on our own amidst a sea of uncertainty. Their indifference cast a shadow over what could have been a truly exceptional outing.

Some £15 to go down a slide? And an additional £7 to go in the horrid mangled rollercoaster? Hard pass.

All the staff working around 17.00 - 18.00 on 2 March were absolutely lovely, from bottom to top and down again. Apologies for my colourful language but that slide is a bit more full on than I expected! Fab views. I've never been a fan of the building but at least it is useful now!

Did zip world wales last year, and learned London had opened. Having seen the ArcelorMittal during 2012 Olympics was keen to see what it looked like inside. The team are all funny and helpful, it was quick to get on slide, we were in and out within 30mins, and the ride is just of 30seconds long. Silly rugby hats and elbow pads seemed a little too much, but this is health and safety madness... Will be back, as apparently other adrenaline adventures are being progress for the summer....??? There are lockers which the team gave us a coin for. Thank you ZipWorld!

Absolutely recommend this place!! The Helix tube slide is amazing, so much fun. Will definitely be going here again! (Kids aged 8yrs upwards 1.3m height and up to 130kg restrictions) You can buy tickets at entry but as it's so busy I would book in advance!

The slide is absolutely epic, Mrs loved it too. Only just re-opened and clearly in a testing phase but the staff very friendly. Felix in particular was very nice!

I had an experience booked in December 2023 which was cancelled due to the weather. Unfortunately the slide was closed in 2024 for essential maintainance. As the slide is now open again, I emailed to rebook my visit, only to find the slide is now run by a new company that will not be honouring my previously postponed booking. There's no understanding or flexibility on their end, and the result is that I've lost out with no refund or visit to show for it. Incredibly poor experience all round.
